Hydrogen Pressure as a Key Parameter to Control the Quality of the Naphtha Produced in the Hydrocracking of an HDPE/VGO Blend

The hydrocracking of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) blended with vacuum gas oil (VGO) has been studied to assess the effect H2 pressure on yield and composition products aim obtaining commercial fuels, mainly naphtha. experiments have performed using a PtPd/HY catalyst in semibatch reactor under following conditions: pressure, 20–110 bar; 440 °C; feed ratio, 0.1 gcat (gfeed)−1; HDPE total 0.2 gHDPE reaction time, 2 h. main fractions produced (gas, naphtha, light cycle oil) reveals interest carrying out process at 110 bar. Thus, conversions 96 79% for removal heavy hydrocarbons molecules obtained, respectively, together naphtha 53.4 wt%. This is paraffinic, it RON 91.5 (within standards). Furthermore, three observed analysis (temperature-programmed oxidation) coke. that bar, coke retained HY zeolite cages less developed burns moderate temperature.
